The Austin Foundation’s Digital Literacy Program Reaches Canadian Classrooms

At The Austin Foundation, we are driven by a singular mission: to equip young people with the skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. The Austin Foundation is excited to announce a new chapter in our journey as a supplier of digital resources to TVO Media Education Group, bringing our digital citizenship resources into classrooms across Ontario, Canada.

A New Milestone in Digital Literacy

Our video, Your Digital Rights and Responsibilities”, has been selected for inclusion in Ontario’s Grade 7 Language Arts curriculum, which focuses on digital media literacy and digital citizenship. This is a significant step forward in our efforts to prepare students not only to navigate the complexities of the digital world but to do so with a strong sense of responsibility and ethics.

This initiative is a natural extension of our NextGen Digital Literacy Program—a comprehensive program designed to prepare middle and high school students for the demands of the digital age. NextGen focuses on key areas such as Digital Citizenship & Social Media, Digital Productivity, Digital Communication, and Digital Safety. By helping students develop these essential skills, we aim to empower them to thrive in both their academic pursuits and future careers.

Empowering Educators and Students Alike

The inclusion of our video in Ontario’s curriculum represents a powerful tool for educators who are on the front lines of fostering digital literacy. Through this collaboration, we are supporting teachers in their vital role of guiding students to understand their digital rights and responsibilities, an area of growing importance in today’s technology-driven society.

We believe that by starting these conversations early, we can help shape a generation of responsible digital citizens who are not only proficient in their use of technology but are also aware of the ethical implications of their online actions.

Taking Our Mission Across Borders

This relationships with TVO also marks a significant expansion of The Austin Foundation’s impact, as we take our mission across borders to Canada. We are thrilled to see our work resonate with educators and students beyond the United States, furthering our commitment to fostering digital literacy on a global scale.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to grow and evolve, relationships like this one are crucial to realizing our vision. We are proud to contribute to an educational initiative that supports the development of young people into informed, responsible, and capable digital citizens.
